We had heard about there being a wildfire in nearby Shoshone National Forest from our waiter at dinner the night before. By morning you could tell there was a fire by the amount of smoke in the air.
I got up with Joshua and we went for a walk along the main drag in Cody while Beau and Christopher caught a little more sleep. There were a number of painted bears on display in front of different shops as well as a white bison so I snapped a couple of pictures (see above).
Once the boys woke up we found a place to have breakfast. Christopher discovered that bacon and whipped cream were a great taste combo (see pictures above). Haven't tried it myself I must admit....
After breakfast we packed the car and headed out. As we drove we could see the smoke from the Shoshone Forest wildfire and even saw a helicopter hovering over the Shoshone River to get another load of water to fight the fire (see pics above).
We entered Yellowstone National Park from the east side after a very short drive. See the next post for more info.....
